The revival of Hawaiian Voyaging Traditions was led by the Polynesian Voyaging Society (PVS) and its voyaging canoe Hōkūle‘a. PVS was founded by Dr. Ben Finney, Herb Kawainui Kāne, and Tommy Holmes in 1973. The Hōkūle‘a name and image Trademark is held by the Polynesian Voyaging Society; use allowed only if licensed.
