Yesterday (Aug. 19) at approximately 4:30 pm, Hokule'a changed course heading, from 'Aina Malanai (ESE) to Hema (S). Chad took over as navigator.
At 6pm est pos 15deg 30m S, 30m W of ref (gps-15deg 29m S, 129deg 49m W)
At 6am est pos 16deg 30m S, 20m W of ref (gps-16deg 31m S, 129deg 58m W)
Heading: Hema @ 5kts (under tow) 120m in 24hrs
Winds: Komohana at var. to 5kts
Swell: Manu Kona @ 6ft
Cumulus and alto stratos as well @ 20%
Changes in weather: many mid-level clouds on southern, western horizon
Steering stars: Hokule'a (arcturus), hikianalia (spica), deneb, orion, jupiter, saturn
Latitude stars: shedir @ 17 degrees above the horizon at th emeridan.
Crew status: Had chili for dinner, over all health is better, looking for wind..
FISH, FISH, FISH...caught 20lbs aku, 25lbs Mahimahi, the Hokule'a crew gave half their catch to the Kamahele. It was much appreciated...
