Keauhou Report: Hokule'a Tours Continue

Hokule'a at Keauhou.

On Nov. 22 approx. 80 students from Kula Kaiapuni visited Hokule'a with parent and teachers. Photo: Teacher Halani Berard and students at Keauhou. They divided up into three groups and spent 20 minutes at each of three stations:

1. The canoe - learning about how the crew eats, sleeps, and lives aboard with Chad Baybayan, Attwood Makanani and Tava Taupu. Photos: (1) Keiki on Board Hokule'a; (2) Chad and Tava speak with students about life on the canoe.

2. The plant grotto - learning about the indigenous plants with Kumu Halani Berard. Photo: Students view posters of native plants.

3. The tarp on the grass - environmental presentation on endangered plants and animals and cultural display of fishing hooks, gourds, fish traps with Gary (Kohanaiki 'Ohana) and Kaliko (Malama Hawai'i Education Intern).
